LEAKED: 4 Things Goodluck Jonathan Discussed With Babangida During His Visit

Ex-president Goodluck Jonathan has on September 13, Tuesday, visited Minna, Niger state, where he met separately with retired General Ibrahim Babangida and former head of state, General Abdulsalami Abubakar.

Two meetings were held behind closed doors and the reporters were barred from covering them.

No official statement was published, but Jonathan commented the meeting through his Facebook expressing his further commitment to building bonds of unity for Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the Punch lists possible things two former leaders discussed.

1. Buhari’s anti-corruption war

Some sources hinted that the meeting might be connected with the President Buhari’s anti-graft war and how it had been affecting Jonathan’s relations, especially his wife, Patience.

2. Edo state election

In the dramatic turn the governorship election in Edo state was postponed by the INEC for two weeks. The Peoples Democratic Party accused Buhari of shifting election to win the time for his party.

The discussion between GEJ and IBB might have touched upon the postponed poll and also the 2019 general election as well as the state of affairs in the opposition party.

3. Niger Delta militants

Two leaders Babangida and Abubakar in the separate meetings with ex-president reportedly raised concern over the increase of the attacks of the Niger Delta militant groups.

4. Babangida’s health

Babangida several months ago confirmed his illness while dismissing the rumours that he is bedridden or disable.

The illness of ex-president became public when he attended the valedictory dinner for Justice Fati Lami Abubakar, the former Niger state chief judge, and was helped out of the event before the end.
